Purpose: Accountable for supporting the development of Global and Strategic Category Management work, including data analytics and enabling appropriate relationships with stakeholders and the relevant category suppliers. Supporting the management of Category specific total cost of ownership benefits to ensure continuity of supply risks are minimised and business requirements are satisfied Please refer to attach role profile for more information: Regional Supply Specialist - Mining Equipment.pdf Typical Tasks: • Supports the development of a fact-based strategy and plan for category/s and associated sub-categories, including a value business case and implementation plan. This will be reviewed annually • In line with category plans, engages with internal stakeholders and supply market experts and data sources to generate ideas and opportunities. Value delivery to be recorded on the Benefits Measurement Tool • Manages and leads data collection, in depth analysis, market engagement and sourcing, tendering and negotiation activity relating to high value initiatives. Applies in depth understanding of Mining Equipment and Consumables cost drivers, supply and demand market dynamics • Successfully employs appropriate negotiating techniques based on defined sourcing and negotiation strategy to reach optimal outcome for Anglo American. Negotiate and implement robust global and or regional framework agreements, which captures the business case value, drives requisite supplier performance and mitigates all commercial risks • Supports the collection of metrics which provide an accurate view of customer satisfaction and supplier performance for the mining equipment category. Oversee and endorse the identification of control action recommendations in collaboration with strategic suppliers and the BU leadership to improve performance using leading practice tools and techniques. Develops and maintains relationships with existing suppliers and new partners within the supply market • Engages confidently with senior level operational, T&S Asset Strategy, T&S Mining, T&S Business Improvement, T&S Information Management, Business Unit Supply Chain and Engineering internal stakeholders to generate ideas and opportunities for continued advantage and step change performance • Drive a step change improvement in mining equipment MARC contract performance in terms of equipment availability, reliability, and cost. Business case, implementation plan & resource model to unlock the value. Ongoing market research, productivity improvement data reports with supporting analysis and recommendations for improvement • Ensure personal compliance to the Anglo American procurement policy and strategic sourcing methodology. Adherence requires zero audit findings • Effective stakeholder engagement, strong communication and influencing skills. Recommends and obtains senior level buy in for new approaches to improve efficiencies and/or commercial value. • Drives change in the organisation through ongoing data reports with supporting analysis and recommendations for improvement Formal Qualifications: Desirable: An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Desirable: A postgraduate qualification (Honours/ Masters/ Doctoral degree or equivalent) in commercial related field Role-Specific Knowledge Knowledge of: • Deep understanding of Category Management methodologies and practices in a global context across a multi-million dollar spend base. • Knowledge and understanding of what the value levers are and of the internal and external barriers to change. • Capability in spend analytics and facts and data based decision making. • Effective stakeholder engagement, strong communication and influencing skills. • Proven track record of problem solving, supplier relationships and successful project delivery. • Strong change and relationship management capability. • Proven track record in facilitating supplier relationship management frameworks.
