Faculty of Education SUNCEP SUNCEP Manager: Teacher Professional Learning (TPL) (Ref. OPV06/140/0519) The general aim of SUNCEP is to make a contribution as a centre of the Education Faculty to the development of educational leadership, teacher professional learning generally, improved student performance and the preparation of students for university study by making available the expertise of SU staff in formal and non-formal education programmes. This aim is pursued in collaboration with, and for the enhancement of, the existing programmes of the Education Faculty.
Duties: • The manager is responsible for duties which include: • Effective management of all TPL projects and associated functions; • Liaising with principals, facilitators, teachers and Education Department officials; • Designing, developing and registration of all teacher professional learning courses/qualifications; • Strategic leadership within the TPL component and the centre by serving on the SUNCEP management committee; • Implementing all TPL projects; • Developing and disseminating materials and resources within each TPL project; • The sourcing, allocation, monitoring and evaluation of human resources within each TPL project; • The establishment of sustainable networks between SUNCEP and relevant stakeholders; • Reporting project developments to funders and other role players; • Any other relevant duties as deemed necessary by the Director. Requirements: • Relevant Master’s degree; • Professional teaching qualification; • Leadership skills; • Analytical ability; • Excellent writing skills / proposal writing; • Presentation / facilitation skills; • Project management skills; • Organisation and administration skills; • Ability to meet deadlines / work under pressure; • Research skills. Recommendations: • Extensive, relevant experience in working within the teacher professional learning environment; • Strong project management skills.
